A Console Designed as a True Analog "Mixing Hub" with a Direct Bridge to the Computer
This mixing console follows the great tradition of analog desks designed for live sound, rehearsals, and events, while integrating convenient USB connectivity to capture a stereo mix or send a signal from a computer. With its 24 balanced mic inputs, subgroups, auxiliaries, and matrices, it positions itself as a robust solution to manage full setups (drums, vocals, guitars, keyboards, brass) and build front-of-house, monitor, and recording mixes without multiplying devices.
Who and What For: Sound Reinforcement, Stage Monitors, Capture, and Broadcast
Ideal for bands, sound engineers, project studios, performance venues, places of worship, or corporate events, this console suits both precise front-of-house mixing and comprehensive monitor management. The 6 auxiliary sends allow powering multiple wedges or in-ear systems, while the matrices and subgroups facilitate sending to secondary zones, video control rooms, or recordings. The USB port provides a simple solution to integrate a PC/Mac into the chain (playback, interludes, capture) without changing the workflow of an analog console.

Questions frequently asked
How many microphones can be connected to the Allen & Heath ZED428?
The mixer has 24 balanced XLR mic inputs, each with a preamp, individually switchable 48 V phantom power, and a low-cut filter. Each mono channel also accepts a line source on a 6.35 mm jack.
Can a mix be recorded to a computer via USB?
The USB port transmits a stereo mix to a computer at 16 bits, from 32 to 48 kHz. The source sent can be the L/R bus, aux 1/2, aux 3/4, or the matrix. The USB return can be assigned to L/R or stereo channel 3.
How many stage monitor mixes can this console handle?
The 6 auxiliary sends can feed multiple stage monitors or in-ear systems. Their configuration includes 2 pre-fader sends, 2 pre/post-fader sends, and 2 post-fader sends.
Are there direct outputs to record each track separately?
Each mono input has a direct output on a balanced jack, totaling 24 direct outputs. Inserts on jacks are also available on each mono channel to connect external processing.
Does the routing allow feeding multiple sound zones?
The 4 subgroups and 2 matrices offer dedicated outputs for secondary zones, video control rooms, or broadcast sends. The main L/R/M outputs are provided on 3 balanced XLRs, with insertion on the master.
