What you need to know
What you need to know
- True spring reverb 100% analog and mechanical, with a built-in three-spring tank for ultra lively depth.
- Ultra precise mix thanks to two separate volumes Dry (direct signal) and Wet (reverb), much more refined than a simple Mix potentiometer.
- 2-band EQ dedicated to the Wet (Low/High) to shape the reverb's tone without affecting the attack of your sound.
- Warm and powerful preamp (inspired by Tampco's Tone Oven) with internal adjustments to go from a tight clean to a crunchier grain.

A Signature Collaboration, Following the Spirit of the Element
La Grotte is the meeting point between Jack White's "garage royalty" standards and Anasounds' boutique know-how. The starting idea is simple: to take the spirit of the Element (the spring reverb that brought "true spring" back into vogue) and offer an even more complete version, with voicing designed to fit into a modern pedalboard without losing the vintage soul.Rather than seeking a spectacular effect reserved for a single universe, this Third Man Hardware edition aims for the opposite: a reference spring reverb, capable of being subtle like an amp reverb, or massive and textured when pushed. The design choices reflect this: separate volumes, active EQ on the Wet, and a preamp with strong personality... yet controllable.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
La Grotte is aimed at musicians who want to feel the reverb under their fingers: an organic response, an attack that remains clear, and that typical spring movement that "breathes" with your playing. It suits both intermediate guitarists looking for a unique and easy-to-set reverb, and advanced musicians seeking an inspiring pedal usable in the studio.Style-wise, it excels in garage rock, blues, soul, modern surf, post-rock, and cinematic atmospheres. Live, it adds a warm and enveloping halo without drowning the mix, and in the studio it can reach richer, almost "airy" textures when exploiting the preamp/reverb interaction and internal settings.
Controls, Internal Settings, and "Studio" Options
On the front panel, the approach is deliberately straightforward: Dry controls the level of your untreated sound (with the possibility to use it as a boost depending on the bypass mode), Wet adjusts the amount of reverb, and the Low / High EQ sculpts the low and high frequencies of the reverberated signal to go from a dark, thick spring to a brighter, snappier resonance. Since the EQ only affects the reverb, you can brighten the ambiance without making your direct sound harsh.La Grotte also hides a particularly clever internal section: a PAD (0 dB or -10 dB) to adapt the input level, a preamp gain adjustment to tweak headroom and crunch amount, and a choice of bypass between True Bypass and Buffered Bypass with Reverb Tails (allowing the effect to fade naturally). Finally, an internal Fade in / Fade out system prevents harsh "splash" noises when activating the footswitch, with an adjustable fade time up to 2 seconds.
Sound Signature
La Grotte's sonic signature is that rare blend of warmth and presence: a spring reverb that doesn't just add background, but gives an almost tactile dimension to the sound. The three-spring tank provides a "cavernous" depth and a very musical spongy character, while the preamp enhances the sense of breadth and dynamics, like on some vintage units where the preamp stage is an integral part of the magic. With moderate settings, it perfectly mimics the spirit of an amp reverb: short, warm, just enough to round off a riff or highlight a solo. When you push the Wet and preamp, the ambiance becomes denser, harmonically richer, and can even evoke very modern resonances, all while remaining 100% analog and mechanical. It's no coincidence that Jack White integrated it into his world: La Grotte knows how to be elegant... but it also loves to be pushed hard.

Questions frequently asked
Does La Grotte operate with a standard 9 V power supply?
The required power supply is 9 V DC with negative center, drawing approximately 100 mA. A compatible power adapter must provide this polarity and current.
Is it possible to keep the reverb tail after bypassing?
The Buffered Bypass mode with Reverb Tails allows the effect to decay after bypassing. A True Bypass mode is also selectable internally.
How does the reverb EQ function?
The Low and High controls affect only the wet signal, with reference frequencies around 700 Hz and 1.6 kHz, cutting bass or treble when turned to the left.
Does the pedal accept line level input?
An internal selectable PAD between 0 dB and -10 dB adjusts the input level. Use with line levels is supported. The preamp gain is also adjustable internally to set headroom and crunch.
What sound does the Anasounds La Grotte spring reverb produce?
With its three-spring tank, this pedal delivers a deep reverb with the typical mechanical movement of springs. The built-in preamp contributes to the dynamics and harmonic density of the signal.
