What ModEQ 6 Is For
ModEQ 6 is an equalization plugin designed to take control of the frequency balance at all stages of a production. It allows you to correct resonances and buildups (low-mids, sibilance, harshness) as well as add definition and character to a source. Whether you are mixing vocals, guitars, drums, or synths, it helps clarify instrument placement in the mix and improve clarity without complicating your workflow.
Main Features
6 parametric bands for precise equalization
Thanks to its six parametric EQ bands, ModEQ 6 covers most common mixing and sound design needs. You can treat a very localized detail, clean up a problematic area, or conversely shape broader curves to enhance presence, brightness, or low-end foundation. This parametric band approach suits both corrective and creative equalization.
Constant Q or proportional Q depending on your approach
ModEQ 6 offers two Q factor behaviors: constant and proportional. Constant Q maintains a stable bandwidth, ideal when you want predictable and reproducible settings. Proportional Q adjusts the bandwidth according to the applied gain, useful for more "musical" adjustments that remain natural when boosting a band, while allowing finer work when needed.
Visualizer for faster and safer adjustments
The visualizer lets you see the EQ curve while you tweak your parameters. This is a valuable asset for saving time during mixing, quickly checking the extent of a correction, and better understanding the impact of your choices. By combining listening and visual feedback, you speed up decision-making and avoid over-processing.

Questions frequently asked
How many equalizer bands are available on the Apogee FX Rack ModEQ 6?
Six parametric bands allow targeting localized resonances or shaping broader curves on a source.
What is the difference between constant Q and proportional Q?
Constant Q mode maintains a stable bandwidth during gain changes. Proportional Q adjusts the bandwidth according to the gain applied. This behavior allows more natural adjustments when the gain is emphasized.
Is the ModEQ 6 suitable for processing vocals and sibilance?
The six parametric bands enable correction of sibilance, harshness, and low-mid buildup. The visualizer displays the shape of the equalization during adjustment.
What Windows or Mac configuration is required?
Compatibility starts with Windows 10 64-bit and macOS 10.13 64-bit. An Apple Silicon or Intel Core processor with a minimum of 4 GB RAM is required.
How does the plugin license and activation work?
The license is unlimited, and simultaneous activation is allowed. Copy protection supports iLok 2, iLok 3, or a Machine License via iLok License Manager.
