Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The Performance II fits within a "control"-oriented approach: a drumhead designed to naturally reduce unwanted resonances and facilitate obtaining a modern, massive, and immediately usable sound, especially in rehearsals and live settings.
Who This Drumhead/Instrument Is For
This drumhead is aimed at intermediate to advanced drummers who want a quick and effective setup, with a present low end and controlled sustain. It excels in energetic styles (Hard Rock, Metal) but is also suitable for any situation where a solid attack and a "mix-ready" sound without excessive overtones are sought.
Features and Innovations
Thanks to its two plies and edge sealing, the Performance II limits secondary vibrations responsible for excessive overtones. It readily accepts lower tuning while maintaining a stable stick response and natural control, without necessarily relying on external damping.
Sound Characteristics
The Performance II emphasizes a low register with a "fat" feel and a punchy response. The sealed edge reduces brightness and shortens the sustain, enhancing note definition and helping to keep tom and snare sounds tight and controlled, even at high volume.

Questions frequently asked
Does the Aquarian PF16 Performance II drumhead fit a 16-inch tom?
Its 16-inch diameter is intended for a tom that accepts this drumhead size. The clear finish corresponds to the PF16 model.
What sound does a clear Performance II drumhead produce?
The two-ply construction promotes a low register and a punchy attack. The sealed edge reduces overtones and shortens the sustain.
Can this tom drumhead be tuned quite low?
This drumhead is designed to allow low tuning while maintaining a stable feel when struck. Its double-ply structure helps preserve a controlled sound at this tuning.
Does the PF16 require external muffling?
The sealed edge naturally limits secondary vibrations that cause excessive overtones. Therefore, external muffling is not always necessary.
Is this 16-inch drumhead suitable for hard rock and metal?
The two-ply design and emphasis on low-end response suit high-volume styles such as hard rock and metal. The reduced sustain helps maintain note clarity.
