An XP Series Cartridge: Audio-Technica's Approach to Clean and Precise DJ Vinyl
The XP series was developed for DJs who want to retain essential club features (stability, reliable playback, output level suited to DJ mixer phono inputs) while emphasizing sound quality. The AT-XP5/H fits this logic with a VM Dual Magnet architecture and a design built to last, offering a balanced compromise between DJ demands and audio finesse.
The range is available according to needs: as a cartridge only, as a stylus, or as a pre-mounted pack on a headshell (as here). This approach allows you to optimize your turntable setup according to your mixing style and sound quality requirements.
For Which DJs and Uses?
The Audio-Technica AT-XP5/H targets vinyl DJs playing in clubs, bars, events, or studios, seeking a stable cartridge for mixing, beatmatching, and cueing. Thanks to its DJ-oriented design and recommended tracking force, it performs well in environments with frequent vibrations and handling.
It is also well suited for DVS / vinyl timecode setups when you prioritize a clean signal and controlled playback. Note: the design and compliance of the XP series allow manual forward and backward cueing, but it is not suitable for intensive scratching due to the VM Dual Magnet architecture.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Audio-Technica AT-XP5/H suitable for mixing and DVS?
This cartridge and headshell set is designed for listening and mixing, with an output level appropriate for the phono inputs of DJ mixers. It is also suitable for DVS setups using timecode vinyl.
What tracking force should be set with the XP5 cartridge?
The tracking force is adjustable from 2.0 to 4.0 g, with a standard value of 3 g for the XP series styli. A setting of 2 g is recommended when using a VM95 stylus.
Can this DJ cartridge be used for scratching?
Manual forward and backward cueing is permitted. However, the VM Dual Magnet design does not make this cartridge suitable for intensive scratching.
Which styli are compatible with the AT-XP5/H?
The ATN-XP5 and ATN-XP7 styli are compatible. The XP series generator also accepts replacement VM95 styli, with a higher output voltage than a VM95.
What diamond stylus is equipped in this Audio-Technica cartridge?
The cartridge has an elliptical bonded round shank stylus. The cantilever is made of ABS reinforced with carbon fiber, with a suspension optimized for precise tracking.
