A Stage Microphone That Has Become a Reference for Demanding Environments

Praised by many professional musicians and sound engineers, the Audix OM7 has established itself on stages worldwide thanks to its exemplary performance in challenging conditions. Within the Audix range, it stands out with a very "live" philosophy: priority on control, signal cleanliness, and feedback resistance, without compromising on detailed vocal reproduction. This approach makes it a relevant choice when the stage is crowded, the overall volume rises quickly, or the singer's position relative to the microphone varies during the set.

Who and What Uses Does the Audix OM7 Excel In?

The OM7 is designed for live vocal performance, especially in contexts where spill is an issue: small stages, clubs, busy lineups, festivals, or setups with close wedges. Its hypercardioid directivity helps isolate the voice and maintain a clearer mix, even with drums and amps nearby. It is also particularly useful for artists who "cup" the microphone (holding it with both hands around the grille): the OM7 remains more stable and more resistant to feedback than many classic dynamic microphones in this type of use.

Performance-Oriented Design: Control, Fidelity, and Rejection

One of the OM7's major features is its intentionally unconventional output level (about 8 to 10 dB lower than many standard dynamic microphones). This design acts as a "buffer" at the capsule level, helping to preserve high fidelity and a sense of control, especially when the stage becomes very energetic.

A Capsule Designed for Voice and Stage

Equipped with a VLM Type C capsule and an extended frequency response, the OM7 aims for precise vocal reproduction, with clear articulation and good presence in the mix. Its rejection greater than 30 dB helps contain unwanted noise and limit spill, a direct advantage for gaining clarity and stability.

To Be Paired with a Console Capable of Providing Clean Gain

In practice, the low output level means the OM7 performs best with quality preamps that offer a comfortable gain margin. On a high-end console or an interface with a quiet preamp, it becomes a formidable tool for achieving a solid, clean, and highly controlled vocal, even at high levels.
