An Avantone "Classic" to Complete the Spirit of the C Series

With the CK-6 Classic, Avantone continues the legacy of its "visually incomparable" microphones from the C series, often associated with Cabernet and Nickel finishes. The goal remains the same: to offer a large-diaphragm studio microphone inspired by classic standards, but with a modern and pragmatic approach focused on consistency, reliability, and immediately usable sound.

Its design features a large 30 mm diaphragm and FET electronics without a transformer. This technical choice aims for a more "colorless" reproduction and fast response to preserve the character of the source while delivering the definition expected from a studio condenser microphone.

A Versatile Studio Microphone for Vocals, Acoustic Instruments, and Amps

The Avantone CK-6 Classic positions itself as a primary microphone for home studios and production studios: sensitive enough to capture vocals with presence and detail, very comfortable on acoustic guitars, strings, piano, or percussion, and robust enough to handle powerful sources like guitar amps, speaker cabinets, or certain brass instruments.

Its cardioid pattern helps isolate the source in imperfect rooms, reduce excessive ambience, and maintain a cleaner capture when multiple instruments play simultaneously. This is a tangible advantage for recording in apartments, light booths, or live session setups.

Low-End Control, SPL Management, and Sonic Signature

80 Hz High-Pass Filter: Cleaner Takes Right from the Recording

The 80 Hz high-pass filter (6 dB per octave) is particularly useful for vocals (plosives, mic stand vibrations), acoustic guitars (boominess in the low end), or any close-miking situation. Activating it simplifies mixing by removing unwanted low-end before conversion while preserving the useful body of the source.

-10 dB Pad: Real Comfort on Amps and Highly Dynamic Sources

On high-level sources, a microphone can saturate not the track in your interface but its own input stage. The CK-6 Classic's -10 dB pad reduces the level upstream to maintain a stable capture and avoid distortion, especially in front of a guitar cabinet, snare drum, or very close percussive instruments.

A Large FET Diaphragm Designed for Balance

The CK-6 Classic is described as having solid lows, full mids, and smooth, airy highs, a sought-after combination for flattering presence without harshness. The FET circuit and transformerless design promote defined reproduction, suited for modern takes (forward vocals, detailed acoustics), while remaining versatile when changing mic distance or angle.

Avantone also incorporates, in the original design, component choices often sought after in "after-market" modifications (such as certain metallized polypropylene capacitors). The expected result: a microphone ready to deliver a coherent studio sound without needing upgrades to achieve high-level quality.
