The 2-volume, 2-tone electronics provide genuine old-school control: you can finely balance the levels between the neck and bridge pickups, or darken one pickup for accompaniment while keeping the other more open to stand out for lead playing. The 3-way selector (bridge / both / neck) quickly covers complementary tonal ranges, from controlled bite to singing warmth.

The construction also contributes to its character: the presence of a maple top helps retain attack and definition, while nyatoh (used for the neck and, depending on the model's design, part of the body) provides a warmer response and beautiful midrange density.
