The 4 mic inputs with phantom power allow powering shotgun, static, or lavalier microphones via receiver, while recording up to 10 channels ensures real flexibility (mix plus isolated tracks depending on workflow). On set, remote control via smartphone is especially useful when the device is mounted under a camera, on a tripod, or placed near talent to optimize cable lengths.

Thanks to 32-bit float recording and dual-stage conversion, the FLOW 4V limits situations where a bad gain setting ruins a take. The idea is simple: the capture tolerates large level variations, and you can readjust gain in post-production on float recordings. This is a major asset for unpredictable interviews, reports, or scenes where microphone distances vary. For more classic workflows, the device also offers 24-bit fixed point recording.

Midas preamps, low noise, and high headroom

Automix up to 8 channels: clearer dialogue without aggressive pumping

The device offers automix up to 8 channels based on a smooth gain-sharing algorithm. In practice, this helps keep speech in the foreground and reduces ambient noise buildup when multiple microphones remain open-a real plus for roundtables, conferences, filmed podcasts, or multi-speaker interviews.

Field functions: pre-record, backup, and sync

To avoid missing the decisive moment, a pre-record buffer captures what happens just before pressing REC. Once recording stops, files on SD can be automatically copied to a connected USB drive to reduce loss risk and speed up transfer. For synchronization, the FLOW 4V can generate internal SMPTE timecode and has a stereo auxiliary input that can also receive a SMPTE clock to align the internal clock.

Video integration and remote control

In camera setups, the FLOW 4V can receive a CEC signal via HDMI to trigger audio recording from a compatible camera. On the set communication side, it can also receive Bluetooth audio from a mobile device, useful for talkback or reference playback. Finally, the FLOW 4V MIX app (iOS/Android) provides remote control via Bluetooth LE, ideal for adjusting a mix, checking levels, or starting a take without touching the device.

StageConnect: multichannel audio with ultra-low latency and possible expansion

The FLOW 4V integrates StageConnect for uncompressed multichannel audio transmission with sub-millisecond latency via a standard XLR/DMX cable. To go further, the optional StageConnect FLOW 4VIO adds 4 additional mic inputs, 2 headphone outputs, and remote power, useful when the shoot evolves to more microphones and more returns.
