Summary of This Method

"Préparatoire 1 - IM3" supports the first steps in music theory training at the 1st cycle level, offering a structured and easily adaptable progression. The goal is clear: to enable the student to build solid foundations in sight-reading, rhythm, singing, and listening, while maintaining a realistic and motivating learning pace. Depending on the learner's profile, the teacher can follow the full 21-lesson path to firmly establish skills or opt for a condensed 12-lesson route when the fundamentals are already well underway.

The method is organized around two series designed to reinforce each other. The "Sight-Reading/Rhythm" section includes rhythmic dictations, note readings, and rhythmic readings: regular training that helps stabilize the pulse, improve precision, and develop sight-reading reflexes useful to all instrumentalists. In parallel, the "Singing/Aural Skills/Analysis" series emphasizes the ear and understanding: original sung readings, error detection exercises, and initial analysis approaches to connect what is seen on the score with what is heard and produced.

Each session creates a concrete link between theory and instrumental practice by combining visual identification, rhythmic implementation, and auditory anchoring. This approach promotes vocal accuracy, ear responsiveness, and understanding of essential musical elements, while fostering progressive autonomy. The dictations, available in the teacher's edition, complete the system by allowing assessment of concept assimilation and establishment of reliable automatic skills. An effective educational tool to build lasting foundations from the preparatory level.
