An Audio Link Designed for the ATEM Range and MADI Workflows
Developed to integrate seamlessly with "ATEM Television Studio" mixers, the ATEM Microphone Converter addresses a key production need: bringing analog sources (microphones and line inputs) into a modern control room environment via robust digital transport. The choice of MADI (AES10-2020 compliant) ensures clean cabling, clear channel distribution, and a scalable approach, especially suited for studios, OB trucks, and fixed installations oriented towards broadcast or streaming.
The concept is simple: centralize capture as close to the sources as possible, convert cleanly, then send the audio back to your infrastructure over a single MADI link. In this context, the HDMI monitoring screen becomes a real operational asset, providing immediate channel status reading without constantly relying on a computer.
For Studios, Control Rooms, and Sets Seeking Reliability and Clarity
This converter is aimed at teams managing multiple speakers, ambient mics, playback returns, or line signals from an external mixer. It facilitates input normalization (mic/line), quick activation of +48 V phantom power, and level monitoring at critical moments: just before and during the broadcast.
Whether in webcast, concert capture, events, or talk shows, you benefit from a coherent audio chain: familiar analog connections on stage, digital transport in the control room. HDMI monitoring helps immediately spot clipping, a muted mic, mic/line source inversion, or phantom power mistakenly activated, without multiplying control points.

Questions frequently asked
How many microphones and line sources can be connected?
Four combo inputs with 3-pin XLR / 6.35 mm TRS jack accept microphone or line sources. The level is selectable via mini switches, with mic gain indicated at +24 dB.
Is 48 V phantom power available?
Each analog input can receive +48 V phantom power, activatable by a hardware mini switch. This feature allows the use of compatible condenser microphones.
Can this converter be connected to a MADI installation?
The MADI connection on BNC includes an input and an output compatible with AES10-2020. Up to 64 digital MADI audio channels are supported, facilitating daisy-chaining in a control room setup.
Does the HDMI monitoring display audio levels?
An HDMI screen can display 4, 8, 12 or 16 channels with VU meters and a 60-second waveform history. Channel names, mic/line setting and the +48 V status are also visible.
Blackmagic Design ATEM Microphone Converter: what audio conversion quality?
Each input features 8 A/D converters and a 32-bit digital preamplifier. The output operates at 24 bits / 48 kHz, with a specified dynamic range of 131 dB(A) and total harmonic distortion of 0.002% at full scale.
