A new generation "compact" BOSS, designed as an effects platform
For decades, BOSS compact pedals have established themselves as standards, with references that defined entire categories (overdrive, distortion, chorus, delay...). The PX-1 Plugout FX carries on this philosophy but translates it into a modern approach: you load one effect model at a time into the pedal, as if you were "replacing" the pedal on your board, while maintaining familiar ergonomics and studio-grade conversion quality.By default, the PX-1 includes 16 models from the BOSS heritage: OD-1 Overdrive, SP-1 Spectrum, PH-1 Phaser, SG-1 Slow Gear, CS-1 Compression Sustainer, TW-1 Auto Wah, SD-1 Super OverDrive, DS-1 Distortion, CE-2 Chorus, BF-2 Flanger, PN-2 Tremolo/Pan, OC-2 Octaver, PS-2 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay, VB-2 Vibrato, DD-2 Digital Delay, and DF-2 Super Feedbacker and Distortion.
And because the idea is an evolving ecosystem, the PX-1 can host additional effects via the BOSS Effect Loader app (loading via Bluetooth or USB Type-C), in the form of "Model Pass" licenses.
Who is the PX-1 for, and in what contexts does it make a difference?
The BOSS PX-1 is aimed at guitarists (and more broadly musicians) who want iconic BOSS tones without multiplying pedals. Its "one effect at a time" concept is ideal if you build a clear chain: main overdrive, dedicated modulation, occasional delay... then you switch models depending on the set, song, or session.In live settings, it's an ultra-practical solution for traveling light, securing your pedalboard, and covering many styles (rock, pop, indie, funk, ambient, blues). In the studio, the precision of settings and level consistency facilitate re-recordings and overdubs: you quickly regain a familiar pedal character with the flexibility of a modern system.

The pedal features 16 BOSS models, including the OD-1, SD-1, DS-1, CE-2, BF-2, OC-2, and DD-2. Only one effect model is loaded and used at a time.
Can new effects be added to the PX-1?
Additional models can be loaded via the BOSS Effect Loader app as Model Pass licenses. Transfer is done via Bluetooth MIDI Low Energy or USB Type-C.
Does the pedal operate in stereo?
The INPUT A and INPUT B inputs, as well as the OUTPUT A and OUTPUT B outputs, allow for stereo connection through 6.35 mm jacks.
What external controls and connections are available?
Three knobs, LEFT, CENTER, and RIGHT, adjust the parameters of the loaded model, while the 128 x 48-dot graphic LCD displays the values. The CTL1,2/EXP jack (6.35 mm TRS) accepts a footswitch or expression pedal. The stereo mini-jack MIDI input allows for MIDI clock synchronization, among other functions.
What power supply is required for this BOSS pedal?
Power is supplied by the included BOSS PSA-S or PSA-S2 adapter, or via USB at 5 V with at least 0.5 A. The specified current consumption is 420 mA when powered by USB.
