A "performer" vocal processor tailored for the pedalboard
With the VE-500, BOSS brings a very "guitar-like" approach to vocal processing: a compact pedal that fits between your effects while offering harmonization and pitch algorithms with a natural sound. The idea is simple: you spend as much time shaping your guitar tone as your voice, without adding a bulky rack or box on stage. For whom, which styles, and in what contexts?
The BOSS VE-500 is aimed at singer-guitarists who want a solid, consistent, and inspiring vocal sound, both in rehearsal and live performance. It excels in pop, rock, blues, folk, worship, and contemporary music contexts, where you often alternate between clean verses, bigger choruses, and marked effects sections. In live settings, the presets allow you to instantly recall settings per song. In studio or home studio, the stereo XLR outputs and MIDI/USB MIDI control facilitate integration with an audio interface, master keyboard, or DAW.
Controls, intelligent harmonies, and control options
The VE-500 combines "foundation" processing (basic sound enhancement, EQ, pitch correction) and spatial/texture effects (reverb, delay, modulation), as well as more radical colors (distortion, filter) and a powerful vocoder. Harmonies and pitch adjustment can automatically be based on guitar chord detection for smooth tracking without complicating your workflow. For control, you have three assignable footswitches, three assignable knobs for quick access to key settings, and compatibility with up to two external pedals or an expression pedal. A built-in looper completes the package to layer vocals and ideas without interrupting your playing.
Sound signature
The sonic signature aims for a professional and natural result: harmonies that blend into the mix, adjustable pitch correction to remain transparent, and stage-quality effects that preserve diction. Depending on your settings, the VE-500 ranges from simple "radio-ready" finishing (more stable, present vocals better placed in reverb) to very marked textures (vocoder, filters, rhythmic delays), with good responsiveness to nuances and attack.Technical specifications
