Buffet Crampon Tosca Bb (24 Silver-Plated Keys To Low C) - BC1195-2-0

A Tosca Bass Clarinet Continuing Buffet Crampon's High Standards

As part of its continuous improvement approach, Buffet Crampon expands its professional range with a Tosca bass clarinet designed to meet the expectations of orchestra sections. The project is rooted in the heritage of historical models produced before 1998, while integrating the benefits of current manufacturing. This bass clarinet extends the sound palette of the already renowned Tosca family, alongside the Sib/La/Eb models launched throughout the 2000s, preserving the brand's DNA: manufacturing precision, stability, and musical coherence.

For Which Musicians and Repertoires?

This bass clarinet is primarily aimed at advanced and professional clarinetists seeking a reliable, expressive, and homogeneous working instrument, particularly comfortable in symphony orchestra settings. Its design promotes consistent sound production and reassuring mechanics during technical passages, making it also suitable for contemporary music, wind ensembles, and chamber music repertoires. Classical players will find a precise tool, while versatile musicians will appreciate its response and projection for blending within an ensemble.

Sound and Design

The Tosca bass is built around a new Tosca bore (the bore refers to the internal profile of the body, crucial for intonation, projection, and color). The announced result is a bright and focused timbre, with clear presence in the orchestral spectrum and a sense of control over dynamics. The work on the mechanism supports this approach: the Tosca keywork aims for quieter and smoother action, reducing extraneous noise and supporting clean legato.

The body in grenadilla (Dalbergia melanoxylon) contributes to harmonic richness and stability, while the 24 silver-plated keys with Tosca design combine elegance and robustness. The instrument features a new chalumeau system : the chalumeau corresponds to the bass register of the clarinet, and here the system highlights a unique and unprecedented clear Sib, useful for gaining clarity and confidence in the low fundamentals.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To accompany a bass clarinet, you can consider universally relevant accessories: bass clarinet reeds in Bb (strength adapted to your embouchure), a swab sized for bass clarinet for daily maintenance, cork grease for the tenons, and a harness/strap to relieve the right hand and stabilize playing posture. These accessories improve comfort, instrument longevity, and response consistency.
