Essential Information About the Martin OM-28E LR Baggs Golden Era Guitar

  • 100% solid wood construction for dynamic response and natural tonal evolution over time.

  • Spruce top with Golden Era (GE) X-bracing in Sitka spruce: projection, sustain, and vintage-style "breathing."

  • Dovetail neck/body joint: optimal vibration transmission and premium feel.

  • LR Baggs electronics to switch from acoustic to live performance without altering the instrument's character.

A Standard Series Designed as a Classic... Improved

Handcrafted in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, the Standard Series encapsulates Martin's DNA: traditional methods, selection of solid woods, and a constant pursuit of balance between heritage and performance. On this OM-28E, the "Golden Era" choices (GE bracing, vintage-inspired details, and comfort enhancements) aim to deliver a more organic feel and immediate musicality, while maintaining the reliability and consistency expected from a flagship model.

For Whom and Which Styles?

The OM-28E is aimed at the intermediate to advanced guitarist seeking an expressive electroacoustic folk guitar, capable of handling fingerstyle as well as pick attack. It excels in fingerstyle, folk, pop, blues, and vocal accompaniment, with excellent definition for open chords and arpeggios. Its playability (Golden Era Modified Low Oval neck profile and refined fingerboard) also makes it an excellent candidate for long sessions, both in the studio and on stage.

Sound Characteristics

The spruce top provides clarity, precise attack, and wide dynamic range: the more you play, the more it responds. The East Indian rosewood back and sides enhance bass depth, harmonic richness, and sustain, with bright yet balanced trebles. The Golden Era X-bracing in Sitka spruce promotes a more "open" resonance, better projection, and a note sensation that develops over time. Finally, the ebony fingerboard and bridge contribute to a clean attack and very clear definition, ideal for right-hand nuances. Plugged in, the LR Baggs electronics preserve this acoustic grain with a natural response, designed for live performance.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To get the most out of this electroacoustic folk guitar, you might consider a steel string set for 6-string folk guitar, a capo suitable for steel-string acoustics, and a strap (handy for rehearsals and on stage). The instrument comes with a case, so protection and transport are already covered.
