Summary of This Method

Preparatory Piano Reading Exercises is a collection designed to support the student as soon as they can recognize and name all the notes on the staff. The goal is simple and very practical: to transform this theoretical knowledge into fluent reading at the keyboard, through short, regular, and immediately applicable exercises.

Each page follows a two-step structure. First, a staff dedicated to the "notes of the day": the student reads them, solfeges them, then plays them correctly on the piano. This format emphasizes accuracy (correct reading, steady rhythm, reliable placement) while encouraging quick recognition. Then, the page offers three four-measure musical phrases to sight-read. These mini-excerpts allow moving from isolated note recognition to musical reading in context, with measure continuity and phrase logic.

The collection explicitly encourages daily practice of the "notes of the day." This regularity is a real pedagogical asset: it strengthens visual memory, improves hand-reading coordination, and gradually reduces hesitation during sight-reading. It is a particularly relevant resource for piano lessons, home practice, or to consolidate sight-reading between repertoire pieces.

Written in French, this method easily integrates into musical training and instrumental work. It provides a solid foundation to gain autonomy at the piano, develop reading confidence, and approach subsequent scores more serenely.
