The Iommi Legacy Reinvented for the Modern Pedalboard
The Sabbra Cadabra recreates the legendary interaction of a constantly engaged treble booster driving a heavily pushed Laney Supergroup - the foundation of early Black Sabbath's sound. Rather than imitating a finished recording, it replicates the original chain and translates it to realistic volumes, ideal for capturing the "rig of doom" without a wall of amps.
Who Is This Pedal For?
Perfect for 70's rock, hard rock, doom, stoner, and heavy blues guitarists from intermediate to pro level. It excels both in studio and live settings as a primary drive source in front of a relatively clean British-style amp but can also push an already crunchy channel. It responds very well to the guitar's volume knob and works great with both humbuckers and single-coils.
Stage-Ready Controls and Features
Range modulates the Rangemaster-style action, from focused bite to more open highs. Gain sets the saturation and density, from tight crunch to massive drive. Presence adjusts brightness and attack in the upper spectrum to cut through the mix without harshness. Vol. 4 controls the output level, with ample headroom to push the next stage. The power supply accepts 9 to 18 V (center negative 2.1 mm) for more headroom; conversely, a deliberately reduced voltage softens the response and adds organic "sag." True bypass, compact format, mono 6.35 mm jack input/output, the Sabbra Cadabra easily integrates into any pedalboard.
The Sound
Precise attack, full mids, and dense yet controlled lows: the Sabbra Cadabra delivers a granite-like, snappy tone highly responsive to playing dynamics. It provides a tight British crunch capable of long sustains and vocal-like sustain, which cleans up with the guitar volume without collapsing. The Presence control refines mix clarity, while Range allows you to go from sharp "bite" to creamier leads, always with immediate and inspiring dynamics.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Sabbra Cadabra 10th Anniversary suitable for doom and 70's hard rock?
Its circuit recreates the interaction of a treble booster with a pushed Laney Supergroup, which was the basis of the early Black Sabbath tones. The gain ranges from tight crunch to massive drive, with full mids and controlled lows.
How to power this Catalinbread pedal?
The power supply accepts 9 to 18 V DC, center negative, via a 2.1 mm barrel connector, with a consumption of 5 mA. Operation on a 9 V battery is also supported. A reduced voltage around 3 to 4 V provides a softer response with sag.
What are the controls of the Sabbra Cadabra?
The four controls are Range, Gain, Presence, and Vol. 4. Range adjusts the focus of the highs, Presence controls brightness, while Vol. 4 sets the output level.
Can it be used with an already crunchy amp?
The pedal can serve as a primary drive source in front of a relatively clean British amp, or push an already crunchy channel. Its output level headroom allows effective drive of the next stage.
What connectivity and footprint on a pedalboard?
The compact format measures approximately 114 x 62 x 33 mm and features a mono input and output on 6.35 mm jacks. The true bypass preserves the signal when the effect is off.
