The Little Devil Series: Chandler DNA in 500 Format, Between Vintage Heritage and Artisan Craftsmanship

The Little Devil processors follow the Chandler Limited tradition: a decidedly "studio" approach where musicality comes from demanding design choices. Here, we find a construction based on discrete circuit amplifiers, the use of coils and transformers, and Made in USA hand assembly. This philosophy aims to preserve signal integrity and sonic signature, far from the compromises of some modern cost-driven designs.

In this spirit, Chandler emphasizes construction without surface-mount components and without ribbon cables. The goal is clear: to prioritize robust manufacturing, longer-lasting service, and audio performance consistent with the expectations of a high-end equalizer intended for professional environments.

Studio Uses: Tracking, Mixing, Bus, and Sound Design

The Chandler Limited Little Devil EQ is designed for those who want a 500 EQ capable of delivering a true personality while remaining effective in everyday tasks. Its "vintage British console" color makes it an ideal tool to shape a source during tracking (vocals, guitars, basses, overheads), enhance presence in the mix, or add definition on a bus (instruments, drums, or even subgroups) when you want a livelier result than a purely transparent EQ.

Thanks to its band selections and switchable slopes on the mids, it also suits modern approaches where you want to work quickly without losing musicality: you quickly find a useful frequency, adjust the amount, and get a result that "holds" in the mix. The Hardwire Bypass facilitates instant comparisons, particularly useful in mixing and stem mastering, to validate EQ choices without level bias.

"British-style" Equalization: Musicality, Impact, and Control

Transformers, Discrete Circuits, and Balancing: A Deliberate Sonic Foundation

The Little Devil identity is based on a topology that does not seek absolute neutrality but rather a balance between definition, harmonic density, and impact. The systematic use of transformers for line balancing and the presence of discrete circuits contribute to this sense of substance: tighter lows, mids that carry, and highs capable of adding air without harshness when properly dosed.

Bands Designed for Studio Workflow: Selections, Slopes, and Shelves

The Little Devil EQ adopts a console-style ergonomics: frequency selections per band (7 choices per band), and controls designed for quick work with a musical logic. The high and low shelves offer a generous correction range (up to +/-18 dB), practical for both corrective equalization and more creative choices. The switchable slopes on the high and low mids allow adjusting how the band reacts, staying surgical when needed or broader when the goal is to shape a tone.

Finally, the filter positions (47 Hz, 82 Hz, 150 Hz) provide a simple and effective tool to clean up the low end, control rumble, or free up space for the kick and bass without slowing down the workflow.
