A Modern "Hot-Rod" in the Charvel Spirit
Born from Charvel's performance-oriented DNA, the Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 embraces the "custom" codes of guitars built to play fast and sound loud: an alder So-Cal style body, a reinforced bolt-on maple neck for stability, and electronics designed to cover everything from heavy saturated leads to snappier textures thanks to the coil split. A true stage electric, ready to withstand changing conditions and last-minute tweaks.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
This solid body electric guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking low action, easy access to the upper frets, and impeccable tuning stability when using the tremolo. Perfect for rock, hard rock, metal, shred, and modern high-gain playing, it remains credible in more dynamic registers thanks to the coil split and no-load tone control.
The Sound
The alder body provides a natural balance: present mids, clear attack, and good definition, ideal for cutting through a busy mix. The maple neck enhances precision and response, while the rosewood fingerboard slightly rounds off the high end to keep the trebles controlled. The Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups deliver a high output level, with harmonics that are easy to bring out and thick rhythm tones. The push/pull coil split broadens the palette towards clearer, sharper sounds, and the no-load tone control allows, at position 10, the removal of the pot from the circuit for a more direct feel and a more "open" grain. Finally, the Floyd Rose 1000 Series promotes solid sustain and excellent stability for intense vibrato effects.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay true to the original spirit and specifications, opt for a 009-042 electric string set (nickel-plated steel), a strap compatible with standard strap locks, and a high-quality 6.35 mm instrument jack cable to preserve attack and dynamics.

Questions frequently asked
What styles can the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal SC1 cover?
This model is suitable for rock, hard rock, metal, and shred thanks to the high output Seymour Duncan Distortion TB-6 and SH-6N pickups. Coil splitting provides clearer, more cutting tones.
Does the Floyd Rose 1000 hold tuning with dive bombs?
The recessed Floyd Rose 1000 Series Double-Locking, combined with the locking nut and string retainer bar, is designed to ensure tuning stability during aggressive vibrato effects.
How does the pickup splitting work on this guitar?
The push/pull volume activates coil splitting. The three-way selector gives access to the bridge pickup, the inner coils of both pickups, or the neck pickup. The no-load tone control is bypassed in the 10 position.
Is the neck suitable for fast playing?
The bolt-on maple neck features a Speed Neck profile, 22 jumbo frets, and a compound radius from 12 to 16 inches. Graphite reinforcement rods and a double-action truss rod with a thumbwheel at the heel complete its construction.
What strings should be used on the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal SC1 Pelham Blue?
A set of nickel-plated steel electric strings with gauge 009-042 is recommended. The scale length is 25.5 inches, or 647.7 mm.
