A clear and precise Control Room section

The Control Room section features three stereo inputs, making it easy to compare multiple sources: DAW return, external player, secondary converter or reference chain. Volume control uses a passive signal path in the monitoring section. This design is intended to provide direct, stable and transparent monitoring. The stepped knob, specified in 0.05 dB increments, offers particularly fine control over the listening level—a real advantage when you need to precisely recall a volume setting from one session to the next.

Analog summing built for mixing

With its Mix bus capable of handling 48 balanced analog inputs, the RED48 allows you to combine stems, subgroups or individual outputs from your audio interface. This setup is ideal for those who want to mix outside the computer while retaining the flexibility of DAW editing.

The stereo insert on the Mix bus adds a highly practical dimension. You can insert a bus compressor, a stereo equalizer or another analog processor to finalize the color of the mix before routing it back into the DAW. This opens the door to a more tactile and immediate master bus processing workflow.

Well-integrated communication features

The RED48 is not limited to mixing. Its communication section includes a talkback microphone with level control, making it easy to communicate with the artist or the recording booth. The independent slate output allows you to manage announcements or session markers cleanly in a demanding production environment.

The remote control further enhances ease of use. It features a remote Penny & Giles master fader, which is particularly useful for creating smooth fade-ins and fade-outs with a more musical feel than a simple software slider. The Talkback, Slate and Dim switches allow you to act quickly, at the right moment, without taking your attention away from the session.
