From Dusk to Dawn: an "ambient machine" by Collision Devices
The Nocturnal was born from a collaboration with Noli and is structured as a three-stage journey: DUSK (modulated delay), NIGHT (dynamic tremolo), and DAWN (shimmer). The idea is not to multiply menus but to offer a guitar effects pedal oriented towards soundscape, with direct controls and a real foot-play logic. Its delay is inspired by the spirit of tape delays: grittier repeats when extending the time, modulation like a worn tape, and feedback ready to go into orbit.
Within the Collision Devices range, the Nocturnal stands as a complete texture box: a single pedal to lay down a shimmer reverb bed, make it breathe with tremolo, then let it float in a modulated delay.
Who is it for? Cinematic textures to post-rock, in studio and on pedalboard
The Nocturnal is aimed at guitarists (and bassists) who enjoy sculpting space: ambient, post-rock, shoegaze, indie, film music, worship, electro, but also any context where you want to thicken a clean tone or make a crunch sound more "wide." The settings remain accessible, but the pedal especially rewards musicians who play with dynamics: sharp attacks, sustained notes, open chords, volume swells.
In studio, it becomes a sound design tool (pads, drones, controlled oscillations). In live use, its long-press functions allow creating events: temporarily speeding up the tremolo, triggering auto-oscillation, or activating trails to keep playing dry while the ambiance fades in the background.

Questions frequently asked
Is this ambient pedal suitable for bass?
This pedal is suitable for guitarists as well as bassists looking for pads, drones, or modulated textures. Its mono 6.35 mm jack input has an impedance of 1 MOhm.
What is the available delay time?
The DUSK section offers a delay time of up to 1 second, with adjustable modulation from 0.1 to 20 Hz.
How do the shimmer reverb trails work?
A long press on the DAWN footswitch activates the trails. The reverb ambiance then continues to fade out after the effect is turned off. Dry playing can resume while the reverb tail remains audible.
What power supply is required for the Collision Devices Nocturnal?
The power supply requires a 9 V DC adapter with a negative center pin and a 2.1 mm connector. No power adapter is included.
Does the bypass preserve the direct signal?
The bypass is a buffered bypass. The dry path is analog, while the wet section is digital and covers a frequency response from 20 Hz to 15 kHz.
