Summary of This Method

Designed with the help of instrument teachers, this method offers a way to teach music theory in direct connection with the orchestra. The goal is clear: to reduce the often-felt gap between reading (rhythm, notes, music theory) and instrumental gesture, by anchoring each concept in real practice, immediately audible and musically meaningful. The student thus progresses in a less abstract framework, where listening, imitation, and collective playing support understanding.

The method emphasizes a progression that goes through oral skills before written ones. This approach fosters a more confident ear (intonation, tonal references, memorization) and a better understanding of the works studied, because the analysis is not only theoretical: it is built through contact with sound, timbres, and the roles of each instrument within the orchestra. For the teacher, the tool aims to be precise in its content while remaining flexible enough to adapt to different pedagogies.

Each volume is organized around two complementary supports: a student book (chosen according to the instrument played) and a teacher's book. From volume 5 onwards, the presentation of the student material evolves for practical reasons related to the density of the work: the method is now structured into a common main workbook for all instruments, complemented by a separate specific section for each instrument. This dedicated section includes instrumental duets, instrumental versions of songs, and instrumental practices, so that each student has content perfectly adapted to their instrument.
