Summary of This Score

This piece for flute and piano fits into an accessible chamber music repertoire approach at the end of the 2nd cycle. It allows the instrumentalist to work on a centered sound, mastery of the line, intonation stability, and breath control within an engaging musical framework. The piano is not limited to a simple accompaniment: it fully participates in the construction of the discourse, inviting attention to coordination, transitions, and the quality of phrasing as a duo.

Carried by the universe of Gilles Carré, this score highlights the experience of a musician who is both composer and flutist. Born in 1956 in Geneva, he obtained a 1st Prize in transverse flute at the Conservatoire National de Région d'Aubervilliers, then the D.E. and C.A. teaching diplomas. Author of numerous chamber music works for various ensembles, he also participated in the ensemble S.I.C. (Situation: Interpretes et Compositeurs) from 1990 to 1993 and founded the group Rivages in 1999. His career as a pedagogue and performer, notably in contemporary repertoire, is reflected in precise writing that encourages rigor while leaving room for expressivity and subtlety of interpretation.
