A revisited minimalist classic: the "Electra" spirit in kit form

The Single Transistor Overdrive belongs to the great tradition of simple architecture overdrives, appreciated for their direct response to playing and organic tone. The idea is to achieve a natural saturation that fits easily into a mix while preserving the attack and dynamics of the guitar. This is precisely what makes this type of circuit so popular: few stages, straightforward behavior, and a very "amp-like" interaction with the guitar's volume control.

Within the CopperSound Cir-Kit range, this model aims for a balance between building pleasure and immediately usable results : an overdrive you keep on for a long time, whether to warm up a clean tone, push an amp already in crunch, or serve as the foundation for a drive chain.

Who this kit is for: curious guitarists, tinkerers, and gigging musicians

This kit is intended for guitarists who want to get on the other side of the pedalboard: understand, solder, assemble, and ultimately play on a pedal built with their own hands. It suits both a motivated beginner in soldering (with a minimum of method) and a musician already familiar with mods and DIY builds, looking for a quick, rewarding, and musical project.

Regarding styles, it covers a very versatile ground: blues, rock, indie, garage, pop, country, and anything that requires controllable and lively saturation. In the studio, it provides an easy-to-record grain, while in live settings it becomes an excellent "always on" to thicken the sound without crushing it. It is also an excellent base for learning to diagnose a circuit (signal, ground, power supply, component orientation) and gain autonomy in maintaining your gear.

Kit design: guided assembly, supplied components, clean result

The CopperSound Cir-Kit Pedal Bundle Single Transistor Overdrive is designed as a premium kit : the pre-drilled enclosure prevents drilling inaccuracies, the custom PCB simplifies component placement and ensures reliable assembly, and the custom nameplate provides a neat visual finish once the pedal is completed. The whole is accompanied by a clear and illustrated assembly guide, designed to make the build enjoyable and progressive.

The kit includes all necessary components for complete assembly: the goal is to let you focus on building and learning, without hunting for parts or incomplete baskets. Once finished, you get a compact, coherent pedal ready to take its place on a pedalboard, just like a commercial model.

Important: like any DIY project, this kit prioritizes freedom and personal satisfaction. Assembly is entirely the user's responsibility. To maximize your chances, it is recommended to test each component before soldering. If you identify a defective component, it is advised to contact the seller before assembly to arrange a replacement.

Sound

Expect an overdrive with a warm and natural character, featuring a vintage-style grain: it bites when attacked, calms down when played softer, and reacts very well to guitar volume variations. The interest of this type of circuit is its ability to remain expressive : you get saturation that follows your playing instead of compressing it excessively.

On a clean amp, it thickens the sound and adds a slight crunch. On an amp already breaking up, it becomes an excellent engine for a denser drive without losing definition. Placed before a distortion, it can also act as a "driver" to enhance attack and presence.
