A "Centaur" style overdrive revisited the Anasounds way
The Savage MK2 follows the grand tradition of transparent and musical overdrives popularized by the legendary Klon Centaur: a reserve of dynamics, precise attack, and that "pushed amp" feel that respects the guitar's character. Anasounds chose to keep the electronic architecture that makes this type of circuit strong, while rebuilding the filtering and gain stages to fit its own vision-more assertive and incredibly effective in real-world situations.
For whom, and in which styles?
This overdrive pedal is suited both for intermediate guitarists and demanding stage musicians looking for a main drive or a premium boost. It excels in blues, rock, pop, indie, worship, and fusion, and naturally fits on a live pedalboard as well as in the studio. With single-coil guitars, it highlights snap and dynamics; with humbuckers, it adds sustain and extra presence without losing definition.
Settings, controls, and design
The Savage MK2 offers three simple and effective external controls: gain to adjust saturation, out to set output level (ideal for boosting), and note to shape clarity and tonal balance in the mix. For further refinement, internal controls allow fine-tuning of character (clipping, light, od_bass, treble, voicing) to adapt the response to pickups, amp, and desired role (main drive, boost, always-on). The true bypass switching ensures a direct signal path when the effect is off.
The sound
Expect a warm and powerful overdrive, with a great dynamic range and excellent responsiveness to playing: hitting hard thickens the grit; playing softer keeps the pedal open and expressive. The output favors chord clarity, controlled natural compression, and musical sustain, while maintaining that "smart boost" quality that pushes the amp without crushing it.

So here it is: after seeing a video of Laura Cox on YouTube, I decided to take the plunge for an Anasounds Savage. As usual, order on my favorite magazine on the web: Woodbrass.
Until now, being equipped with a TS9, I did not see the point of adding anything to my equipment: a Gibson True Historic 59 and a PRS Single Cut 2006 mounted in hysteric bar 59 (I know: I am a bit of a monomaniac of 59...), all spitting in stereo on a Marshall JVM 215c and a Deluxe Reverb RI 65. In case you hadn't guessed: I play blues and hard rock from the 70s/80s more.
I think that at worst I could send the animal back if it doesn't stick.
I tried it on today... And here comes the drama: never had a sound so incredible!!! A crazy overdrive: AC/DC from the time of\ "bad boy boogie\â: you see? Impossible to describe the warmth of this overdrive, its hyper-nervous and dynamic side, totally versatile with its various external and internal controls: it's just orgasmic!!! In addition, even the Deluxe Reverb (which is not very pedal friendly: apart from TS type overdrives, forget the classic distortions that suck your ears...) sounds like never before!!! : imagine the sound of Popa Chubby on her white-hot Twin Reverb and well it\'s the same!
Frankly guys from Anasounds: I'm on my ass!
It's really nice to know that in addition it is Frenchies who are in charge..
Respect. Just respect...Automatically translated

Made in France! Finally, we still have a lot of know-how in France, Anasounds, Val Martins, and many others... good local products.
A safe bet, an excellent overdrive, a magnificent finish. The only downside is the absence of small anti-slip pads under the case.Automatically translated

I use it as an overdrive (on a Marshall) and I love it! The sound is round, warm and vintage. But I just think the volume goes up a bit too fast for overdrive.
Otherwise, I love the look and the settings inside are very handy for âfine-tuningâ the sound.Automatically translated
