A "hybrid" classical in the spirit of the Classic series
With the Classic series, Cort offers two complementary approaches: traditional Spanish-style classical AC guitars, and more modern CEC models. The Cort CEC-5 belongs to this "hybrid" family designed for guitarists who love the feel and tone of nylon strings while seeking the ergonomics of an electro-acoustic: thin body, cutaway, slimmer neck, and Fishman preamp ready to plug in.
For whom, and for which styles?
The Cort CEC-5 is especially aimed at beginner to intermediate guitarists who want an easy-to-handle nylon-string guitar, as well as stage musicians needing a comfortable electro-acoustic. It is very well suited for fingerstyle, pop, folk, and vocal accompaniment, while remaining comfortable with more "classical" colors thanks to the dynamics of cedar. Its 45 mm (1.77") nut width offers a good compromise between chord comfort and right-hand precision.
The sound
The solid cedar top provides a soft attack and natural warmth, with great sensitivity to light playing: ideal for nuances, making chords sing, and achieving the round timbre typical of nylon strings. The mahogany back and sides enhance overall balance, with present mids and a homogeneous response. The thin body format favors comfort and control (especially amplified), while maintaining clean acoustic projection. When plugged in, the combination of Fishman Isys Plus and Sonicore aims for a clear and usable sound, practical for rehearsing, recording demos, or playing on stage.
Recommended compatible accessories
To fully enjoy the CEC-5, choose a set of nylon strings suited to your touch (normal or heavy gauge depending on desired resistance). For amplification, a 6.35 mm instrument jack cable is recommended to connect the guitar to an acoustic amp, PA system, or interface.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Cort CEC5nat Natural Gloss suitable for amplified playing?
The Fishman electronics combine an Isys Plus preamp with a Sonicore pickup. A 6.35 mm jack connection allows the guitar to be connected to an acoustic amplifier, a PA system, or an audio interface.
What is the neck width at the nut?
The head nut measures 45 mm, or 1.77 inches. This width is more accessible compared to a traditional classical guitar neck which is usually wider.
What sound characteristics does the cedar top and mahogany provide?
The solid cedar top promotes a soft response and warm attack, especially appreciated in fingerpicking. The mahogany back and sides support present midrange frequencies and a balanced tone. This combination suits acoustic pop accompaniment, fingerstyle, and light bossa nova.
Is the thin body with cutaway comfortable?
This instrument features a thin auditorium-sized body designed to facilitate playing seated or standing. The cutaway provides more natural access to the 22 frets in the higher register.
What strings should be used on this guitar?
This model uses six nylon strings. A normal tension nylon set provides more flexibility, while a high tension set increases finger resistance.
