A Series Designed with NS Design for Modern Instruments
The D'Addario NS Electric series was created in partnership with Ned Steinberger and NS Design, with a clear priority: to offer reliable response and a wide tonal palette on electric double basses, where definition, balance across registers, and tuning stability are essential. This set aims for precise reproduction while maintaining a "singing" musicality in the high register and a solid foundation in the low register.
Intended Use and Target Musician
This set is intended for demanding beginner double bassists as well as intermediate and advanced musicians seeking a versatile, stable, and enjoyable set for daily use. The Medium tension is particularly suited for styles requiring a good compromise between comfort and projection: jazz, contemporary music, pop, film music, studio work, and amplified stage playing. The tuning is set for a standard G-D-A-E, with the possibility to extend the range via a low B or a high C available individually.
Sound
Thanks to their multi-strand steel core, these strings offer a consistent playing feel, with a clear response and stable intonation. The sound is characterized by a rich and present low end, while maintaining a clear and singing high end useful for melodic passages and higher positions. Their "electric"-oriented design promotes good definition and a clear attack, which helps maintain an articulated sound even when amplified. They are also suitable for acoustic instruments for musicians seeking this type of feel and clarity.
