Premier SS: the D'Angelico spirit in a modern and accessible semi-hollow
The Premier SS follows the line of D'Angelico guitars with a bold "New York" look, offering a semi-hollow designed for today's musicians. With its cutaway, more compact format, and refined finishes (5-ply binding, dedicated pickguard), it aims for an excellent balance between style, comfort, and reliability, whether in the studio, rehearsal, or on stage.
For whom, and in which styles?
This D'Angelico is especially aimed at intermediate guitarists (and motivated beginners) who want an easy-to-play semi-hollow without the bulk of a large body. Its center block makes it comfortable in blues, rock, indie, and pop, while remaining relevant for softer jazz tones on the neck pickup. The C-profile neck and 24.75" scale length facilitate bends and expressive playing.
Sound
The semi-hollow construction with a center block provides a sharper attack and better feedback control than a fully hollow body, while retaining beautiful resonance and a "lively" feel under the fingers. The maple top, back, and sides promote clarity, definition, and a precise high end, ideal for rich chords and melodic lines that remain clear.
The Supro Bolt Bucker A5 Nickel (Alnico V) neck pickup emphasizes a full low register and singing mids, with appreciable dynamic range. The 2 volume / 2 tone electronics allow fine-tuning of level and brightness, while the 3-position selector switch facilitates quick tonal changes during play (depending on the pickup configuration of the model).
