Controls, Modes, and Tuning Philosophy: Simple on the Surface, Deep in Practice

Two potentiometers form the core control: Speed affects the LFO speed, envelope sensitivity, and delay times (short times: flanger/chorus color; long times: modulated delay sensation). Depth adjusts modulation depth (LFO or envelope) and delay feedback, from a slight shimmer to long, unstable waves.

Three selectors expand the palette: Delay Time (x1 or x10) sets the delay time range and reverses the envelope polarity, Modulator switches between LFO (sine wave) and ENV (envelope), and Intensity controls the overall intensity level (in high position, the pedal can go into oscillations and feedback). An internal Gain control allows output level adjustment, from unity to "way too loud."

Sound Character

The Space Bender stands out with modulation unafraid to be textured: it can sound "glossy" and resonant, become sharp and metallic, or shift toward erratic movements close to sound design. Attacks emerge with a mechanical movement impression (LFO) or breathing feel (ENV), and feedback opens the door to trails, comb filters, and reverse dive effects.
