The Diamond Drive continues the legacy of the cult Diamond overdrives with a "studio-ready" approach: a musical grain, a natural playing feel, and simple controls. This new generation version combines the most appreciated elements from several of the brand's references (notably the spirit of the J-Drive, along with voicing and EQ ideas from other Diamond circuits) to offer a drive that is modern, precise, and very organic.

Diamond Pedals was founded in Canada in the early 2000s with the idea of creating pedals that are easy to use but instantly improve the sound quality of a rig. After a hiatus around 2020, the brand was relaunched in Canada with a range that faithfully preserves the DNA of the original circuits while adopting more current choices in format and features.

The Diamond Drive is aimed equally at the beginner guitarist seeking a quality first overdrive and the experienced musician looking for an "always-on" drive to thicken the sound without crushing it. Thanks to its active post-gain EQ, it easily adapts to single-coil guitars as well as humbuckers, and quickly calibrates according to the amp (clean combo, already pushed tube head, or even a more modern sound platform).

In blues and rock, it serves as a warm boost with controlled bite. In indie and pop, it becomes a textured saturation, precise in the mix. In live contexts, the EQ helps correct a stage that is too bright or too dull in seconds, without having to change amps or touch your base tone.

Simple Controls, Maximum Efficiency: Drive + Active Post-Gain EQ

The Diamond Drive gets straight to the point: Level controls the output volume, Drive adjusts the amount of gain, and the Bass / Treble duo forms an active Baxandall EQ placed after the gain stage. The result: you can add bass to thicken a solo, cut lows to tighten a riff, or adjust highs without making the saturation harsh. The controls are designed to be musical: at noon, the response is balanced, then you move away from this neutral point to shape the character.

The Warm switch adds a shelving filter in the upper spectrum: very useful to round off the attack, tame a too-snappy guitar, or give a more "vintage amp" feel without losing definition. The footswitch is a true bypass relay type (soft-touch), convenient for a modern pedalboard and silent bypass.

Sound Character

You get a warm drive with a very wide range: at the low end, a slightly grainy boost ideal for reacting with the amp's preamp; higher up, a thicker, natural saturation with an "amp-like" side and beautiful harmonic richness. The pedal responds very well to nuances: pick attack, right-hand dynamics, and lowering the guitar volume to clean up the sound without it collapsing.

The big strong point is the feeling of control: the active post-gain EQ allows you to place the guitar in the mix without compensating elsewhere. You can also play with the overall curve: raising Bass and Treble makes the sound seem scooped in the mids; lowering them brings out the mids more, which helps cut through a dense mix. With Warm activated, the saturation gains smoothness and comfort, especially with bright amps or sharp bridge pickups.
