Initially launched in 2017, the F-Octave marks Diamond's return with an approach faithful to the "vintage fuzz" DNA, while offering finer and more practical daily adjustments. Designed as a tribute to the Foxx Tone Machine (a cult octave fuzz from the early 70s), it reprises the idea of generous saturation and aggressive upper octave, but with a discreet silicon analog circuit calibrated to provide harmonic richness and playing responsiveness.

Controls, Modes, and Settings: A Fuzz Tuned to the Millimeter

The ergonomics remain intentionally straightforward: you set the output level with Level, the amount of saturation with Fuzz, then refine the tone via two complementary tools. The Octave switch activates or deactivates the upper octave: when activated, it emphasizes very present high harmonics (particularly effective on isolated notes); when deactivated, the pedal behaves like a more classic, warm, and muscular fuzz.

To shape the spectrum, Diamond added a particularly useful duo: the Tone acts as an equalization point centered at 750 Hz (boost or cut), while the LPF applies a gentle low-pass filter around 2 kHz to smooth the extreme highs when the fuzz becomes too biting. The result: you can go from a dark, thick, "velvet" fuzz to a brighter, more nervous fuzz without losing the vintage identity of the machine.

Finally, the relay true bypass switching with soft touch footswitch is designed for intensive use: the activation is crisp underfoot and integrates perfectly with modern rigs.

The Sound

The F-Octave delivers a high-gain silicon fuzz with a solid low-midrange, musical compression, and a "chewy" feel very inspired by 70s classics. With the octave off, you get a thick and warm saturation, ideal for thickening power chords, making a low-tuned riff roar, or adding body to a lead without becoming aggressive.

With the octave on, the pedal adds a sharp and almost synth-like edge: the upper harmonics stand out with authority and cut through the mix, especially on phrases played high up the neck. By adjusting the Tone/LPF pair, you choose whether the octave should be bright and "circular saw"-like, or conversely more muffled and psychedelic. The dynamics remain very touch-sensitive: pick attack, vibrato, double stops... all translate into a rich, lively, and decidedly vintage texture.
