The 4099 Series: a DPA reference, now in CORE version
Already considered a standard for acoustic instrument capture, the d:vote 4099 takes a step further with CORE by DPA. This evolution aims to improve transparency and openness of sound across the entire dynamic range, while retaining the strengths of the 4099 line: faithful reproduction, excellent off-axis sound control, and true consistency from one instrument to another within the same setup.
The series philosophy remains the same: the same microphone can be used on many instruments by simply changing the appropriate mounting system. In this kit, the setup is optimized for accordion to achieve clean, clear, and easy-to-manage stereo sound reinforcement.
For which accordionists and contexts?
This 2x DPA 4099 CORE stereo kit for accordion is aimed at demanding musicians, sound engineers, and touring setups seeking a capture that is both natural and highly isolated. The supercardioid pattern helps maintain a clean sound on busy stages (monitors, drums, brass, amps), while preserving the articulation and dynamics so characteristic of the accordion.
Thanks to instrument mounting, you maintain constant proximity to the source: the sound remains consistent even when moving, and the left/right stereo balance stays more stable than with distant miking.
Technology, mounting, and durability: what makes the difference on stage
CORE by DPA: more transparent reproduction
The CORE technology is designed to reduce distortion and enhance the sense of detail, especially on attacks and fine nuances. The result: a more intelligible accordion in the mix, better perception of transients, and an increased sense of openness, useful both in acoustic music and amplified contexts.
Supercardioid: isolation and gain before feedback
The supercardioid polar pattern focuses the capture on the instrument while reducing sensitivity to side and rear sounds. This is a major advantage for achieving higher usable gain before feedback and maintaining usable stereo even in dense stage environments. As with any directional microphone, placement is crucial: the gooseneck helps precisely aim at the most musical area and easily replicate the same positioning from one gig to another.
Accordion mounting, quick repositioning, and instrument protection
The microphones can be unclipped and repositioned easily. The mounting system is designed to avoid damaging or scratching the instrument's finish. In this "accordion" configuration, the kit provides a complete solution designed to achieve clean and transparent stereo, with a selected pair for level coherence between the two microphones.
Built to last: IP58 certification and detachable cables
The CORE by DPA models, including the 4099 CORE, are IP58 certified for enhanced durability in real-world conditions. The design includes moisture protection and material choices focused on reliability. Detachable cables (lightweight or rugged versions depending on the application) facilitate installation and handling while meeting the demands of daily use.

Questions frequently asked
Is this DPA 4099 CORE kit suitable for the accordion?
Designed for the accordion, this kit includes two 4099 CORE microphones with dedicated mounts to achieve stereo recording. The sensitivity variation is specified at ±1 dB at 1 kHz between the microphones.
Does the DPA 4099-dc-1-101-a reduce feedback on stage?
The supercardioid pattern reduces pickup of side and rear sounds, which helps increase the useful level before feedback.
How are the microphones mounted on the accordion?
Each microphone attaches to the instrument using a system designed to preserve its finish. The 140 mm gooseneck allows precise aiming of the capsule towards the desired area. The microphones can be unclipped and repositioned quickly.
What connectors and powering do the DPA 4099 CORE use?
With the XLR adapter DAD4099-BC or DAD6001-BC, phantom power P48 is recommended, although operation is possible from 12 V. The microphone output is in MicroDot format, while the adapter provides a balanced XLR output.
Are the DPA 4099 CORE designed to withstand intensive stage use?
Certified IP58, the system is built to better resist moisture under usage conditions. The detachable cables measure 1.8 m.
