The Hummingbird follows the tradition of "repeat percussion" tremolos associated with certain old Valco and Vox amps: an amplitude modulation that is more angular and rhythmic than smooth, sinusoidal tremolos. The result: you get the shimmering and musical character of retro sounds, but with a unique ability to "chop" the signal to create tight patterns, synthetic pulses, and textures flirting with extreme speeds. The Hummingbird is aimed at both guitarists and bassists seeking an expressive and rhythmic tremolo: vintage blues and rock for smooth pulses, indie/alternative for staccato cuts, stoner and psychedelic to thicken a wash, or post-rock/experimental to transform a sustained note into a percussive sequence. In the studio, it helps lock a part "in the pocket" without overloading the arrangement; live, the expression input allows switching from subtle tremolo to aggressive chop in a fraction of a second. Controls, Modes, and Design: Simple Yet Highly Playable

The Hummingbird focuses on essentials with ergonomics designed for playing. The Depth knob controls the tremolo intensity: from a light pulse to full chop, with a very useful zone where the attack remains clear while adding movement. The Mode selector (3 positions) chooses the speed range: slow for vintage vibes, medium for modern grooves, fast for staccato effects and near "ring-mod" textures. The Rate control finely adjusts the speed within the selected range, while the Level control allows volume matching or pushing the amp/following stages thanks to the clean gain. The expression input provides immediate foot control over speed (when used, the Rate knob is disabled), handy for speed ramps and instant variations. Regarding bypass, the pedal features Flexi-Switch technology: a relay-based true bypass that supports both latching (classic on/off) and momentary (effect active only while holding the footswitch) operation. Note: relay switching requires power to pass the signal.

Sound Character

The Hummingbird's character is decidedly percussive: the sawtooth waveform delivers a sharp cutoff sensation, with a very clear attack and dynamics that respond well to playing. At low depth, you get a musical and sparkling tremolo, perfect for open chords and arpeggios; at high depth, the pedal becomes a stutter machine capable of turning a riff into a rhythmic sequence, almost like a burst of "pings". The level reserve facilitates integration into a set (no effect drop in the mix), and the "Depth at zero" mode offers a practical JFET clean boost to enhance a passage without changing saturation color. This type of choppy tremolo is favored by musicians oriented towards rock/alternative/experimental styles: it is notably found in rigs associated with very textural and noisy approaches, as well as in more rootsy rock contexts where a vintage tremolo must remain clear and sharp.
