From Vintage Amp Tremolo to Modern Textures
The M305 condenses the heritage of 1950s/60s amp tremolos and current aesthetics. The Bias recalls the organic pulses of early tube circuits, the Opto evokes the silky regularity of blackface amps, and the Harm is inspired by the famous "brownface" amps with their musically spectral sway. The SQR and Revo modes open up more radical territories, perfect for chopped patterns, cinematic effects, or experimental textures.
Who Is It For and What Uses?
Designed for intermediate and advanced guitarists, this pedal covers warm blues, indie/surf, alternative rock, ambient pads, and modern quasi-synth sounds. In the home studio or on stage, its compact format frees up space on the pedalboard while offering great rhythmic versatility and easy phase alignment with the band.

Questions frequently asked
What tremolo sounds does the MXR Tremolo M305 offer?
The six modes MXR, Bias, Revo, Opto, SQR, and Harm provide pulse patterns inspired by vintage amps, square cuts, and spectral movements. The Harm mode is designed to deliver a three-dimensional swing to the signal.
Does the M305 pedal operate in stereo?
The 6.35 mm jack input can be set to mono or stereo via internal configuration. The stereo output uses a TRS jack. A Y cable, not included, allows splitting the two outputs.
Can a tap tempo switch or an expression pedal be connected to this MXR?
The CTR jack accepts an external tap tempo footswitch, not included, allowing synchronization of the speed to the pulse. An expression pedal can also control speed or depth in real time.
What power supply is required for the MXR M305?
A 9 V DC center-negative power supply is required, with a current draw of approximately 180 to 190 mA. No battery compartment is provided, despite compatibility indicated with the 9 V format.
How is the Envelope mode activated on the M305?
Holding down the Gain knob activates Envelope mode, in which speed and depth respond to playing dynamics.
