Thermo Cured: The Spirit of "Opened" Wood from the First Notes

The term Thermo Cured refers to a thermal treatment process applied to the top wood aimed at stabilizing it and bringing its response closer to that of a "matured" guitar. The result is an immediate sense of responsiveness, a crisper attack, and better clarity, particularly appreciated on a dreadnought format designed for projection.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

The E40D Natural Thermo Cured is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive acoustic capable of handling heavy pick playing while remaining nuanced in fingerpicking. It excels in folk, bluegrass, country, song accompaniment, and powerful rhythm playing, while offering enough finesse for arrangements and arpeggios.

Sound Characteristics

The solid Adirondack AAA spruce top delivers a lively attack, wide dynamic range, and excellent sustain when played loudly. The solid rosewood back and sides reinforce the lows, add depth, and enrich the harmonics, with bright yet controlled highs. The hand-scalloped X bracing promotes top vibration: the result is generous projection, solid sustain, and clear articulation, ideal for transitioning from energetic strumming to detailed picking.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup and balance, favor 12-53 acoustic strings (Phosphor Bronze), such as the indicated D'Addario XT .012 - .053. An acoustic capo and a selection of picks (from flexible to stiff) also allow easy exploration of the full dynamic range of the dreadnought format.
