Essential Information About the Eko Ranger 6 Electro Cutaway EQ Black Guitar

  • Dreadnought Format: generous bass, great projection, and powerful midrange to accompany or play in a group.

  • Cutaway: easy access to the highest frets without sacrificing acoustic volume.

  • Eko SE-30 Preamp: volume, 3-band EQ, phase inversion to prevent feedback, and built-in tuner for the stage.

  • "Ranger" Spirit: iconic Eko look (including the "moustache" pickguard) and design made to be robust and accessible.

A Ranger That Became a Legend: Eko's DNA from the Sixties to Today

A true standard from the Italian manufacturer Eko, the Ranger established itself in the 1960s and 1970s with an immediately recognizable silhouette. Known under different names at its beginnings (J-52, then J-54), it eventually became the Ranger VI, a reference appreciated for its solidity and excellent value for money. This electro-acoustic cutaway version follows this tradition: a reliable folk guitar, made to be played often, transported without worry, and plugged in whenever the context requires.

For Whom and in Which Styles?

The Eko Ranger 6 Cutaway EQ Black targets both the beginner looking for a simple and effective first electro-acoustic, and the intermediate player seeking a rehearsal or stage instrument without complications. Its Dreadnought format is particularly suited for strumming (pop, rock, variety, folk), while remaining comfortable for fingerpicking thanks to a clear response. The glued neck with a C-shaped profile, combined with a double-action truss rod, allows adjustment of playing comfort according to your attack and string gauge.

Sound

Acoustically, the Dreadnought (Western) format delivers a full bass, solid projection, and a "body" feel ideal for accompaniment. The spruce top promotes clarity, precision, and attack, helping the guitar stand out well in a mix. The linden back and sides contribute to a balanced sound and good durability, with appreciable sustain for open chords. The X-bracing contributes to overall balance and sound stability. Once plugged in, the Eko SE-30 allows quick shaping of your tone thanks to the 3-band EQ, while the phase inversion helps reduce feedback risks on stage.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To respect the instrument's response and stay true to its original spirit, prefer steel acoustic strings with a gauge of 11-52 (bronze), ideal for maintaining a good balance between playing comfort and projection.
