OD Glove: a modern overdrive with an "amp-like" character in EHX's compact format

With the OD Glove, Electro-Harmonix offers a versatile drive pedal aiming for more of an "amp" feel than a "distortion box," thanks to a MOSFET architecture designed to enrich the signal with harmonics while maintaining clarity. Its compact size and die-cast metal chassis make it easy to integrate into any pedalboard, from minimalist rigs to more complete setups.

The approach is straightforward: a drive base capable of covering multiple roles (boost, overdrive, distortion), complemented by more advanced shaping options than average, to quickly adapt to your guitar, amp, and playing context.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

The EHX OD Glove is aimed both at beginner guitarists looking for a first "all-in-one" gain pedal and experienced musicians seeking a versatile backup overdrive, a second drive color, or a gain stage to stack. Thanks to its dynamic response, it remains sensitive to touch and guitar volume, helping transition from a cleaner to a more driven sound without necessarily adjusting the pedal.

In terms of styles, it excels in blues, rock, hard rock, pop, and indie, whenever a dense but clear saturation is desired. In the studio, it can thicken rhythm parts, push an amp already at the edge of breakup, or add more sustain to leads. Live, its Tone Shift switch is especially useful to recover presence when the band is loud (or when the amp is a bit dark).

Controls, Internal Options, and Design: a True Shaping Pedal

The OD Glove emphasizes responsive controls capable of covering a wide palette: sparkling clean boost, warm crunch, then more saturated distortion. The Tone Shift switch modifies the midrange imprint to fine-tune the guitar's place in the mix: handy for making a solo stand out, adding bite to a rhythm part, or better matching a vintage-style amp.

Another highlight: the internal 9V or 18V selector. The pedal is powered at 9V, but you can choose the internal voltage to tailor the feel under your fingers. Depending on your setting, you can favor a tighter attack and more pronounced compression, or conversely a more open feel with greater headroom, useful if you play with high-output pickups, rich chords, or stack multiple gain stages.

Finally, the true bypass ensures transparent disengagement to preserve your signal integrity when the effect is off, an important point if you build a pedalboard focused on "pure tone."

The Sound

The signature of the EHX OD Glove lies in a harmonically rich and structured saturation, with a clear intent to remain defined even as gain increases. You can easily get a bright clean boost to push a clean channel, a "brown" crunch for punchy rhythms, then a thicker, singing distortion for leads.

The response is designed to react to playing dynamics: attack, pick nuances, and guitar volume variations. The Tone Shift adds a quick option to modify the sound's "focus," particularly useful to adapt the pedal to a dark amp, a cabinet heavy in low-mids, or a dense mix.
