A "1962" Reissue at the Heart of the ES-335 Heritage
The ES-335 has become a benchmark for guitarists seeking the warmth of a semi-hollow without sacrificing attack or note sustain. This Epiphone 1962 ES-335 Reissue embraces a decidedly "vintage correct" approach, with craftsmanship designed for stability (center block) and aesthetics inspired by early 60s models, right down to the "open book" headstock and its mother-of-pearl inlays.
For Whom and Which Styles?
This modern ES-335 with vintage DNA is especially suited for intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a guitar sensitive to attack and playing volume. Thanks to its pair of humbuckers and semi-hollow body, it feels at home in blues, rock, jazz, and country, as well as anywhere a rich, articulate, and nuanced sound is desired-from silky cleans to sustained crunch.
The Tone
The combination of semi-hollow body and solid maple center block delivers a "woody" resonance and a nice openness in the midrange, while limiting feedback and enhancing sustain. The Gibson Custombucker pickups provide a very musical response: round lows, rich mids, and detailed highs, with excellent chord definition. The meticulous wiring (CTS potentiometers and Paper-in-Oil capacitors) enhances the sense of progressive control: you can clean up the tone with the volume and shape the brightness without losing character.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the most out of this semi-hollow, you can pair it with an electric guitar string set (gauge chosen according to your touch), a strap (practical for rehearsals and on stage), and a capo to explore higher voicings without changing your familiar positions. Picks of various thicknesses will also allow you to fully exploit the instrument's very sensitive dynamics.
