A Modernized Hummingbird in the "Inspired by Gibson Custom" Spirit
This Hummingbird Deluxe EC is part of the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom series, developed in partnership with the Gibson Custom acoustic team in Bozeman, Montana. It carries the aesthetic and sonic DNA of the iconic Hummingbird, adding more luxurious lutherie choices and a contemporary approach: solid rosewood back and sides, thermally aged solid spruce top, and cutaway for more modern playability.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
Thanks to its cutaway, Rounded "C" neck profile, and built-in electronics, the Hummingbird Deluxe EC is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive acoustic for fingerstyle playing, vocal accompaniment, and lead passages. It excels in folk, pop, country, and songwriting, while remaining comfortable for broad rhythm playing and natural presence in the studio or amplified on stage.
The Sound
The combination of thermally aged solid spruce (top) and solid rosewood (back/sides) delivers a wide and detailed voice: the spruce provides attack, clarity, and dynamics, while the rosewood enriches the spectrum with deeper lows and brighter highs, enhancing the sense of breadth. The traditional X-bracing carved from quarter-sawn solid spruce promotes a resonant response and good projection, with generous sustain. Plugged in, the L.R. Baggs VTC Bronze electronics maintain a musical tone, with volume and tone controls discreetly accessible at the soundhole.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This guitar requires power, so plan for a 9-volt battery for the L.R. Baggs VTC Bronze system (battery not included). The Epiphone Protector Ultralite case is provided for transport and protection.
