The J-200 is one of the historic large acoustic silhouettes, recognized for its aesthetics and presence. With the J-200 EC Studio Parlor, Epiphone reinterprets this spirit in a smaller, easier-to-carry format while maintaining a strong visual identity. Note: this model was previously called "EJ-200 Coupe", which may explain some references on the instrument (e.g., truss rod cover).

This electro-acoustic guitar is well suited for ambitious beginners as well as intermediate guitarists who want a comfortable guitar for everyday use, at home or on the go. Its size and Fishman amplification make it relevant for pop, folk, chanson, pick accompaniment, and clear fingerstyle playing. The shorter scale length facilitates light bends and slightly reduces string tension.

Sound

The solid spruce top delivers precision in attack, good projection, and clear chord definition, while the ovangkol (back, sides, and body) tends to offer a balanced response with present lows and clean highs. Plugged in, the Fishman Sonicore pickup under the saddle provides a direct and usable signal, and the Presys II allows quick adjustment of volume, bass, and treble, with a phase switch useful for reducing certain feedback depending on the setup.

Recommended compatible accessories

For amplified playing, plan for a 9V battery (alkaline or lithium): depending on the series and included equipment, it may be indicated as required but not included. For protection and transport, the optional hard case EJ-200SCE Coupe 940-MJCS is the recommended reference. Regarding consumables, 12-53 acoustic strings (phosphor bronze type, like the original gauge) will suit to maintain the intended balance and feel.
