Essential Information About the Epiphone J-200 Studio Guitar
- Super Jumbo Format inspired by the legendary Gibson SJ-200 "The King of the Flat-Tops": wide projection and immediate presence.
- Solid Spruce Top for a dynamic, balanced response and sound opening over time.
- Fishman Electronics (S-Core + Presys VT) with volume/tone controls integrated into the soundhole, convenient for stage use.
- Modern Comfort: mahogany neck with 1960s SlimTaper D profile and long 25.5" scale length for good definition.
A "Studio" J-200: The Spirit of a Legend, Designed to Remain Accessible
Part of the Epiphone Studio Acoustic collection, the J-200 Studio adopts the aesthetic codes and DNA of the famous SJ-200: Super Jumbo silhouette, Moustache bridge, and a proudly vintage look. The goal is clear: to offer an authentic acoustic guitar inspired by the great Gibson classics, while remaining affordable and suited to modern uses, notably thanks to discreet and effective built-in amplification.
For Which Guitarist and Styles?
The Epiphone J-200 Studio is aimed equally at the serious beginner and the intermediate or experienced guitarist who wants an "XXL" dreadnought with modern comfort. Its large body and long scale length are particularly suited for pick accompaniment, open chord playing, pop, acoustic rock, country, and folk, with excellent performance in both strumming and fingerpicking.
Sound
Its solid spruce top provides attack, clarity, and a wide dynamic range: it responds well to both subtle nuances and strong attacks. The laminated maple body promotes clear definition, with controlled bass and precise treble register, ideal for maintaining clarity in a mix. The Super Jumbo format enhances projection and delivers a sense of sonic "grandeur," while the Moustache bridge contributes to the J-200 character: full, rich, yet always clear. When plugged in, the combination of Fishman S-Core and Presys VT delivers a balanced acoustic sound, with quick volume and tone adjustments at your fingertips.
