An Iconic "Silverburst" Les Paul Custom Recreated with Gibson Custom Spirit
This Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom pays tribute to one of Adam Jones' most iconic guitars: his 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst. The goal is clear: to offer a Les Paul Custom style electric guitar with an "Antique Silverburst" look and meticulous specifications, while maintaining broader accessibility. With glossy finishes, multi-ply binding, and solid wood construction, this model stands as a flagship in the signature range: authentic in aesthetics, professional in equipment.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
With its set neck, Les Paul-style short scale, and powerful humbucker duo, this guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced players seeking true stage and studio response. It excels in styles where attack, sustain, and harmonic density matter: alternative rock, metal, stoner, hard rock, as well as blues rock and heavy riffs in lower tunings. Its more nuanced neck pickup also allows for thick clean tones and singing leads.
Sound Characteristics
The mahogany + maple top combination provides the classic "Les Paul" foundation: rich low-mids, generous sustain, and more defined attack thanks to the maple. The Custombucker in the neck position delivers a warm, open, and expressive tone, ideal for wide arpeggios, deep cleans, and rounded solos. At the bridge, the Seymour Duncan Distortion pushes harder: compression, high output, and present mids for incisive riffs and well-controlled modern distortion. The electronics (2 volumes, 2 tones) with CTS potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors offer a usable adjustment range to precisely sculpt brightness, density, and dynamics depending on the amp and playing style.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original feel, prefer electric strings in 10-46 gauge (equivalent to the supplied gauge). The guitar is equipped with a standard 6.35 mm / 1/4" output jack, so a good quality 6.35 mm instrument cable is perfectly suited for both stage and recording.
