Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The G2 series has become a benchmark at Evans for drummers seeking a tom drumhead capable of withstanding heavy strikes while maintaining a musical and controlled sound. In the Clear version, it emphasizes precise attack and clear projection, while retaining a present low-mid range.
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
The Evans G2 Clear is aimed at beginner to advanced drummers who want a reliable and versatile drumhead. It is well suited for styles where a defined and consistent tom sound is desired, such as rock, pop, funk, metal, and live settings where durability and consistency are paramount.
Features and Innovations
Thanks to its two-ply construction, the G2 offers a moderate feel and a more focused sustain than a single ply head, which facilitates harmonic control. The result is a solid sound with a well-defined attack and enough presence to remain expressive without becoming overwhelming in the mix.
Sound Characteristics
The double ply configuration adds more body and a medium warm character, while enhancing tuning stability. The clear finish promotes a defined attack and direct projection, ideal for achieving articulate toms with focused sustain and excellent clarity, even at high volume.
