Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range
For over 60 years, EVANS has been one of the brands that shaped the modern drumhead, notably with the first synthetic drumhead and now-iconic series. The clear G1 sits at the heart of the range: a single-ply reference designed to offer maximum openness, dynamics, and musicality, with consistent and reliable manufacturing.
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
The EVANS G1 Clear 16-inch is suitable both for beginner drummers seeking an easy-to-tune drumhead and for seasoned musicians looking for a natural and responsive tone. It works particularly well in rock, pop, funk, jazz, and fusion, whenever a clear attack, generous sustain, and sensitive response to nuances are desired.
Features and Innovations
Designed and manufactured in the United States, this drumhead incorporates Level 360 technology to facilitate seating on the hoop, improve contact, and make tuning faster and more stable. It is also available in a coated version for those seeking more control and a softer attack.
Sound
Its single-ply 10 mil construction promotes a bright, lively, and highly resonant sound. On a 16-inch tom, it highlights the shell's grain with a clear projection and natural sustain. Tuned lower, it develops a full and deep low end, ideal for achieving a wide range without muffling the drum's personality.
