What CrushStation Is For

CrushStation is a distortion and overdrive plug-in designed to thicken, warm, or destroy a signal with precision while remaining musical. It caters both to mixing needs (adding body to a snare, making a vocal stand out, thickening a bass) and creative productions (lo-fi textures, aggressive leads, percussive parallel effects). Thanks to its stereo architecture and blend control, it becomes a true "command center" for sculpting the harmonic energy of a track without losing the intelligibility of the original signal.

Main Features

From smooth saturation to extreme distortion

The core of CrushStation is based on a drive chain capable of going from a light boost to deep distortion. The DRIVE, GRIT, and SUSTAIN controls manage the amount of harmonics, attack, and sustain, reaching tones close to fuzz. The result: you can add subtle presence to a timid track or, conversely, transform a synth or guitar into a wall of sound.

Sag Control: the "hardware collapsing" grain

With Sag, CrushStation reproduces a typical sensation of some analog circuits pushed to their limits: the power supply "sags," the amp starts to cough, cut out, and intentionally sounds "broken." This is a powerful tool to bring movement, instability, and a controlled lo-fi signature, perfect for transitions, drops, breakdown effects, or industrial textures.

EQ, compression, and gate: distortion that fits in the mix

CrushStation includes a 3-band EQ to tailor the spectrum before/after saturation and make the effect "sit" in the mix. The compression increases density and loudness perception, while the gate is used both to tame a very aggressive output and to create a chopped crunch effect à la parallel gated by combining a high threshold with a drier MIX setting.

Octave Mix and creative parallels

The Octave Mix section adds upper and lower octaves to the signal, then the distortion "glues" them together to form massive textures. Combined with the MIX control, this approach makes parallel distortion, parallel compression, and hybrid effects very easy to set up: you keep the impact of the original sound while adding bite, roughness, or a new harmonic layer.

Ribbon, HotSwitch, and MixLock: performance and quick audition

The Ribbon allows real-time playing of the effect and smooth transitions by morphing between selected settings. The HotSwitch lets you instantly toggle between two states within the same preset, handy for automating verse/chorus, build-up/drop, or more pronounced before/after changes. Finally, MixLock maintains a constant MIX level during preset auditioning, enabling you to compare tones without altering your parallel blend.
