The Essentials to Know About Rotary Mod Software
The Essentials to Know About Rotary Mod Software
- Authentic Leslie Effect: rotating speaker cabinet simulation with that typical "swirly" movement, from subtle vibrato to pronounced whirl.
- Separate Rotor / Horn Control: independently adjust the speed of the rotor and horn, then blend their balance to create expressive pulsations and vibratos.
- Musical Synchronization: Tap Tempo to lock the animation to your session's BPM, ideal for modern production.
- Ultra-Fast Workflow: built-in presets, Ribbon control to manipulate multiple parameters with one gesture, and Mix Lock to compare presets without changing the wet/dry balance.

What Rotary Mod Is For
Rotary Mod is a rotating speaker effect plugin designed to recreate the feel of a Leslie cabinet in your DAW. It delivers organic, three-dimensional modulation, perfect for thickening a take and adding depth, or conversely, radically transforming a sound by making it more lively. On a clean guitar, it adds that swirling "chorus-vibrato" movement; on an organ or electric piano, it enhances the vintage character; on synths and vocals, it can produce hypnotic textures and highly creative rotation effects.
Main Features
Dual Rotation: Independent Rotor and Horn
The signature of a true Leslie system comes from the combination of two rotating elements. With Rotary Mod, you can adjust the rotor and horn speeds separately and fine-tune their mix to find the exact amount of movement. The result: wide pulsations, tighter vibratos, or more "jet" style modulations depending on your musical intent.
Advanced Modulation with Secondary LFO
Going beyond simple speed changes, Rotary Mod allows you to add frequency modulation to the rotor and horn speeds via a secondary LFO, with selectable modulation source. This is the ideal tool for creating subtle variations, expressive accelerations, or more experimental effects that follow the dynamics of the track.
Cabinet Size and Tone Shaping
Choosing the cabinet size (Standard or Giant) influences the sound and the "smoothness" of the rotation. To finalize your tone in the mix, a Hicut control is included to adjust the high end, tame excessive brightness, or conversely, better anchor the effect in a dense production.
Tempo Synchronization and Preset Navigation
Tap Tempo makes it easy to align the rotation with your track's tempo, useful for coherent rhythmic patterns or marked breaks. Presets speed up setup, while Mix Lock lets you browse presets while keeping the same wet/dry level, allowing you to compare tonal colors without disrupting the mix balance.
Expressive Control with Ribbon
The Ribbon control is designed for performance and automation: it allows simultaneous modification of any combination of parameters. Perfect for evolving a rotation from verse to chorus, or programming a gradual intensity build-up without multiplying automation curves.

Questions frequently asked
Is Rotary Mod compatible with Mac and Windows?
Compatibility includes macOS 10.14 or later on Intel and Apple Silicon processors, as well as Windows 10 or later.
Can the speeds of the rotor and the horn be adjusted separately?
The speeds of the rotor and the horn can be adjusted independently. Mixing them allows precise control over each element's contribution to the modulation.
How to synchronize the rotary effect with the track's tempo?
A Tap Tempo feature allows the rotation speed to match the track's tempo. Speed modulation can also be enhanced by a secondary LFO applied to both the rotor and horn, with selectable modulation sources.
What is the difference between the Standard and Giant cabinets?
Two cabinet sizes are offered: Standard and Giant. This choice affects the sound character as well as the smoothness of the rotation.
Can the Ribbon control on the Eventide Rotary Mod automate multiple parameters?
The Ribbon control allows simultaneous adjustment of any selected combination of parameters. It can be used to program a gradual evolution of the effect.
