The Bass VI, a Fender Icon in Offset Format

Introduced in the early 60s, the Bass VI made Fender history by offering a hybrid approach: the tuning and range of a bass with the ergonomics and articulation close to a guitar. The Vintera II "60s Bass VI" continues this tradition by adopting the aesthetic and functional codes of the era: offset silhouette, switch-based electronics, and iconic wood choices, to recapture the spirit of sixties productions while benefiting from modern and reliable manufacturing.

Who Is This Bass VI For and What Styles Suit It?

It is aimed at guitarists who want to go lower without changing their familiar references (chords, arpeggios, melodies) and bassists looking for a more harmonic instrument to enrich arrangements. In the studio, it excels at doubling a bass line, thickening a riff, or creating pads and drones. Style-wise, it feels at home in surf, indie, shoegaze, pop, post-punk, and all music where precise but adjustable low-end textures are sought.

The Sound

The alder body delivers a clear attack and present mids, while the rosewood fingerboard softens the high end and enhances a rounded feel. The three "Vintage-Style Bass VI" single-coil pickups offer a wide palette: deep lows, singing mids, and defined highs, with the clarity typical of SSS configurations. The switch panel radically changes the approach: activate one pickup for a focused line, combine several for a wider sound, then engage the "Low Cut" to tighten the low end and get a more biting tone, ideal in a dense mix. The 30" / 762 mm scale length facilitates playability and promotes a supple response, while the floating tremolo (with locking) opens the door to subtle vibratos and more pronounced effects without losing the vintage DNA.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original specifications, prioritize a Bass VI string set with gauges .025-.095 (like the factory setup) to maintain consistent tension and intonation on the 30" / 762 mm scale length. A good quality 6.35 mm instrument cable and a tuner (clip-on or pedal) will perfectly complement this passive electronics.
