The Texas Special Tone: The Spirit of Strat with More Character

Designed to recapture the charm of an expressive Stratocaster, the Fender Custom Shop Texas Special set emphasizes a lively attack, present mids, and dynamics that respond instantly to your playing. This pre-wired pickguard combines everything in a clean, ready-to-play assembly, ideal for giving your instrument a new voice without undertaking a full rewiring.

Who Is It For and What Styles?

This pre-wired pickguard is aimed at guitarists seeking a muscular and articulate Stratocaster sound while retaining the clarity and snap of single-coil pickups. It is particularly suited for blues, vintage rock, funk, country, and any playing style where a snappy response, singing intermediate positions, and a sharper bridge pickup are desired.

Premium Components and Ready-to-Solder Wiring

The pickguard is equipped with CTS 250K potentiometers and a set of Custom Shop Texas Special pickups featuring Alnico 5 magnets, with cloth-covered wire and shielding to reduce unwanted noise. The staggered pole pieces contribute to volume balance and string-by-string definition. For installation, simply remove your old pickguard, solder the output connector and ground wires, then screw it back in: you immediately benefit from reliable wiring and authentic Fender tone.

Questions frequently asked

Is this pickguard compatible with an 11-hole Stratocaster?

This pickguard uses a modern 11-hole mounting and an SSS configuration for Stratocaster. Compatibility therefore depends on the drilling and configuration of the guitar to be equipped.

Is soldering required to install this pre-wired Fender pickguard?

The assembly is pre-wired, but the output connection and ground wires must be soldered. The old pickguard must then be replaced before screwing in the new one.

What sound do the Texas Special pickups produce?

The three single-coil pickups with Alnico 5 magnets emphasize a bright attack and present mids. The intermediate positions suit singing tones, while the bridge pickup provides more bite. This set is especially suitable for blues, vintage rock, funk, and country.
