  • Stability and Sustain: 4-saddle vintage-style steel slotted bridge and vintage Fender open-gear tuners.

A Return to Fender's 1970s Codes

The Vintera III Early '70s Jazz Bass dives back into the aesthetics and feel of early seventies models: bound fingerboard, black block inlays, neck plate stamped with the "F" logo. Made in Mexico, it incorporates the wood choices and hardware that built the Jazz Bass's reputation, while ensuring the consistent build quality expected from a modern series.

Who Is It For, and Which Styles?

Ideal for intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a vintage-spirited Jazz Bass, it excels in funk, soul, '70s rock, jazz, and pop. The narrow 38.1 mm / 1.50" nut width facilitates fast runs and playing with fingers or pick, while the classic luthiery provides a reliable foundation in both studio and live settings.

Tone

The two "early '70s" single-coil pickups deliver the precise attack and singing midrange typical of a Jazz Bass, with firm lows and crisp highs. The alder body offers balance and projection, while the maple neck/fingerboard adds definition. The passive circuit with two independent volume controls allows fine-tuning of neck/bridge pickup blend, without a selector switch, enabling a shift from warm, woody tones to a more biting and punchy sound. The long 34" / 864 mm scale length and slotted saddle bridge contribute to sustain and note clarity.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

Delivered with a Deluxe gig bag, this bass accepts 34" long scale string sets in gauges .045-.105 (like Fender 7250M) to maintain its original character. A Fender hard case for Jazz/Precision Bass will provide optimal protection on tour. Add a quality 6.35 mm instrument cable and a wide strap for better comfort during long performances.
