Essential Information About the Fender Vintera III Mid '60s Jazzmaster Guitar

  • Mid-60s spirit in both look and feel: Mid '60s "C" profile, vintage 7.25" / 184.1 mm radius, and 21 Vintage Tall frets.

  • Two vintage-style Jazzmaster pickups for bright "jangle" cleans, woody mids, and a tone that handles pedals very well.

  • Floating Jazzmaster vibrato with detachable arm and locking button: smooth, expressive modulation designed to stay musical.

  • Alder body + rosewood fingerboard combo: Fender balance, natural warmth, and solid sustain for an offset with a strong character.

The "mid-60s" Jazzmaster in the Vintera III range

With the Vintera III series, Fender focuses on reissues inspired by key periods, preserving the feel and aesthetic codes that defined the identity of historic models. This Mid '60s Jazzmaster stands as the flagship offset in the range: a guitar with a full tone, iconic design, and distinctive electronics, crafted for rich clean sounds, textures, and dynamic playing.

Who is it for and what styles?

This Fender Vintera III Mid '60s Jazzmaster is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive guitar, different from a more classic solid-body, and highly responsive to attack. It excels in surf, indie, shoegaze, pop/rock, and all aesthetics where you want depth, open chords, and atmospheres. The 7.25" / 184.1 mm radius favors comfortable playing in chords, arpeggios, and rhythms, with a true "vintage" feel.

Sound

The two vintage-style Jazzmaster single-coil pickups offer a sparkling high end, firm lows, and nuanced mids, perfect for defined clean tones as well as gritty crunch. The Lead/Rhythm switch is a major asset: in Lead mode, the 3-position selector and master volume and tone controls cover a wide palette; in Rhythm mode, the two dedicated neck pickup knobs darken the sound for muted textures and rounder layers. The alder provides balance and attack, while the rosewood fingerboard adds warmth, and the floating vibrato maintains a smooth, "singing" feel for modulations.

Recommended compatible accessories

To stay true to the original feel and tension, a 10-46 string set is an excellent choice, especially if you regularly use the vibrato and seek a good compromise between stability, comfort, and definition.
